Problem
An ageing population and a shortage of caregivers make caring for the elderly and people with disabilities harder. Most humanoid robots focus on the robot-to-environment layer and overlook the human-robot interaction (HRI) layer, so they cannot interact with people naturally and safely.
Solution
Twolabs builds a semi-humanoid robot specialised in human-robot interaction. Using HRI datasets and fine-tuned models, it naturally handles feeding, dressing and fetching objects. Axol and the Axol Kit (robot, cameras and compute) let builders start training from day zero.
Business model
Twolabs supplies robots to nursing homes and senior-living facilities and sells Axol robots and Axol Kits to builders. Revenue comes from hardware sales plus a subscription for robots and HRI datasets. Every unit is assembled in San Francisco.
Target Market
Key customers are nursing homes and facilities caring for the elderly and people with disabilities. Builders and startups working on physical AI and humanoid robots use the Axol platform. Over time the audience will grow to families caring for elderly relatives at home.
